Our group is suitable for both those new to photography and for the more experienced who wish to improve their knowledge and techniques.
We expect those joining the group to have a conventional camera (eg, a DSLR, mirrorless or compact camera) as this will allow the full range of photography skills covered in our meetings to be practised and understood. Although we sometimes find it convenient to take photos with a mobile phone, we generally discourage their use because of their more limited capabilities and mostly automatic operation.
Each month we are set an assignment to take photos which are then viewed at the next meeting. After our refreshment break we usually have a presentation on a specific topic which may relate to the next month's assignment. Each new term's programme is planned in advance providing our members the opportunity to give a short talk on a subject of their choice. We encourage members to attend photography exhibitions.
We also have a private Facebook group "Senior Snappers" on which we post our assignment photos.
Our group is currently at capacity but, if you are interested, please contact Helen Medland for further information and/or to be placed on our waiting list.
Stroll with a Camera is our other photographic group which meets to take a short stroll at locations which present opportunities to photograph a wide range of subjects.
