Shared Learning Projects

Status:Active, open to new members
Convenor:

Shared Learning Projects are undertaken by a group of u3a members working together to research a project for an external client. The client would normally be a charity that may not have the necessary volunteers to carry out the project themselves.

Our members have been involved in a number of projects including ones for The Old Royal Naval College, The Brunel Museum and the South London Botanical Institute. SLP team members  can find them quite challenging but also very enjoyable. Since Covid SLP’s have been few and far between but we are always open to suggested Projects and can provide guidance to get them off the ground.

We have just held  an initial meeting to discuss a project for Lewisham Local History Society. We have agreed to  research and record  a part of their collection mainly related to Personal  Accessories. This will include items related to makeup, hair care, shaving and other personal items such as hand warmers. We are in the planning stages and anticipate that the project will start in May.

We have sufficient volunteers for this project but if you are interested in similar projects keep an eye on this webpage or if you have a potential SLP in mind please get in touch.
