Creative Writing

Status:Active, open to new members
Convenor:
When: Weekly on Thursdays 10:30 am-12:30 pm
Venue: Private House - New Eltham

The Creative Writing Group was formed in February 2026. We aim to increase awareness of the different forms Creative Writing takes and develop the skills of members through practice and discussion. We present selections of our own work through links in the weekly u3a SEL Newsletter and on this page.

We welcome new members and currently meet in a private house in New Eltham, an area that is (usually!) well-served by roads and the 321 bus and overground rail from Lewisham. There is also limited parking available by arrangement.

For further information contact the Convenor using the link above.

For the latest Creative Writing piece follow this link to The Magik Cinema.
The magic of cinema is its ability to embody both past and present; reminding us of a simpler period of shared joy or drawing us back together after years apart. It can spur the imagination and offer an existence outside the boundaries of place and time. In The Magik Cinema, Brian Clover takes us back to a small town where the friendship of two women plays out over the years and highlights the role that cinema has in their lives.
