u3a

South East London

Welcome

Our u3a is part of a national u3a movement that promotes life-long learning.

Our approach is summed up in the phrase “Learn, Laugh, Live.”

Our 600 + members are no longer in full-time employment so they have the opportunity to participate in and contribute to our 70 or so interest groups which are organised and led by members themselves using their life-skills, knowledge and enthusiasm. We meet in community centres and members’ homes, mainly across the boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham, although some of our members come from further afield. A few groups meet online. We also have regular talks, sometimes by outside speakers, sometimes by our own members, which are open to all. Whether you want to learn a language, become creative, get a bit fitter, stretch your mind, or explore your local area while also making new friends in a relaxed setting, we hope you will find something of interest. (See the Groups tab for a list of interest groups.)

What does membership provide?

An annual subscription allows you to join as many activities as you like at no extra cost, except for the cost of refreshments, art materials, ticket and transport charges for outings and, for a few groups, very modest tutor or other expenses.

You can also take advantage of the national and regional u3a learning and interest group programmes (some of which are delivered online) and shared learning projects.
